For drivers with discerning taste and a need for speed, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster offers performance, exclusivity, and style. The SL-Class is comprised of three models, each with distinct engines and performance levels. The base SL-Class convertible is the SL550. Mercedes-Benz turned production of the SL63 and SL65 over to their in-house tuning shop, Mercedes-AMG. AMG is known for producing the most exclusive and highest performance of each Mercedes series with aggressive looks, better handling, and powerful engines.

The SL-Class starts at just over $100,000 with the base SL550. The SL550 has a 382-hp 5.5-L V8 and a 7-speed automatic transmission. Next up in the line is the AMG SL63 with a bigger 6.0-L V8 putting out 518-hp and a unique MCT (multi-clutch technology) 7-speed automatic transmission not found in any other Mercedes-Benz. Finally, the fastest production Mercedes-Benz is the AMG SL65. This AMG tuned Mercedes has a 7.0-L bi-turbo V12 that produces an impressive 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. Keeping that horsepower under control is tasked to a heavy-duty 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The AMG SL63 and AMG SL65 have the all the performance, handling, and styling upgrades expected from Mercedes-Benz AMG. They have aggressive looking aerodynamic body styling, bulging fender flares, and a lowered stance.

Standard on all three SL-Class models are a powered retractable hardtop, all leather interior, and active body control. Other luxury features include a 10-speaker surround sound system by Harman Kardon with an in-dash 6-disc changer, 40GB hard drive, SIRIUS satellite radio (with 6 month subscription), iPod media interface, Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, GPS navigation, and Mercedes-Benz’s COMAND system with voice control for navigation and telephone.

You will enjoy an output of 518 hp and 465 lbs-ft of torque. Interior features include AMG multicontour sport seats, a performance steering wheel, floor mats, and door entrance plates.
